Some people do not believe in magic—until they witness their first breathtaking sunrise. That quiet moment when the sky begins to shift, colours stretching across the horizon like a living canvas, has a way of changing minds. Photographers understand this kind of magic. With a spare day on hand, I decided to make the early trek down to Snapper Rocks on the southern edge of Queensland. Known for its world-class surf breaks and iconic coastal views, it felt like the perfect place to chase that morning magic. Arriving before first light, the air was calm, and the ocean rolled in with a steady rhythm as the sky slowly began its transformation.
As the sun crept over the horizon, the scene came alive. Golden light spilled across the water, illuminating the surfers already carving through the clean, warm waves.
