Wellington
Point is a beautiful place to visit, and it's even more beautiful when you're
there to capture the sunrise. There are a number of benefits to watching the
sunrise. It can improve your mood, reduce stress and anxiety, improve physical
health and even inspire creativity.
The
first thing you'll notice when you wake up early is that it's quiet. You're not
surrounded by the hustle and bustle of people rushing around trying to get
ready for work or school. Instead, there's just you--and maybe some birds
chirping in the distance if you're lucky! This peacefulness helps calm our
minds so we can focus on what matters most: taking time for ourselves before
the day gets too busy with activities that don't always make us feel good (like
work).
Wellington
Point Jetty is one of the best spots to capture a stunning sunrise in
Queensland, Australia. This iconic location is popular among photographers who
want to capture the perfect shot of the sun rising over the Moreton Bay.

Tips
for Photographing a Sunrise.
To get
the best sunrise photos, you need to choose the right camera settings. The
first thing to consider is your aperture (the size of the hole that lets light
into your lens). If it's too small, then there won't be enough light for a
bright image; if it's too large, then everything will look overexposed and
washed out. A good rule of thumb is to keep your aperture between f/8 and
f/16--but don't worry about this if all else fails: most modern cameras are
equipped with automatic modes that adjust themselves based on available light
conditions so that photographers don't have to worry about these technical
details!
Next
up is shutter speed--how long the shutter stays open before closing again. This
controls how much motion blur appears in each shot; basically how long does it
take for something moving fast enough (like water) or slow enough (like clouds)
before they become blurry? Shutter speeds can range anywhere from 1/8000th
second all the way down into minutes depending on how much movement needs
capturing in an image."
Remember
to arrive early, use a tripod, experiment with different settings and be
patient. With a little practice, you'll be able to capture the perfect sunrise
shot at Wellington Point Jetty.
We
then headed to Raby Bay Dog Beach which is a fantastic location to take your
furry friend for a swim and enjoy the sunrise. Located in Cleveland, Queensland,
this off-leash dog beach is perfect for those who want to spend some quality
time with their pet while enjoying the natural beauty of the area. Arriving at
the beach early will not only give you more time to spend with your dog, but it
will also allow you to avoid the crowds that tend to arrive later in the day.
Sunrise is a beautiful time to visit the beach, as it's less busy and the light
is perfect for photography. Taking your dog for a swim at Raby Bay Dog Beach at
sunrise is a wonderful experience that you won't forget. Remember to check the
tide times, bring the right gear, arrive early, follow the rules, be mindful of
other dogs, and enjoy the sunrise.
From
the beach it was time to check out one of Brisbane's original markets, The
Cleveland Markets which has been operating in Bloomfield St, Cleveland in the
heart of the Redlands Coast for over 32 years. The markets have over 70 Stalls
including fresh produce, arts and craft, food and entertainment. This farmers
market is not to be missed when visiting Cleveland in the Redlands Coast. It is
the perfect Sunday morning destination for the family (including well behaved
fur babies).

Nothing
beats a good road trip and when the opportunity presents itself, there’s
nothing like loading up the car and catching up with friends. The Sunshine
Coast, Queensland best stretches of coastline is right on Brisbane’s doorstep.
Being less developed than the Gold Coast, many people, like us, prefer it for
its laid-back atmosphere and skyscraper-free beaches. We were up the crack of
dawn, our destination, Peregian Beach. Laid-back with a community feel,
Peregian Beach is one of the best beachside suburbs on the Sunshine Coast. A
treasure of northern Sunshine Coast, Peregian Beach boasts picture-perfect,
relaxed coastal living, if you’re looking for chilled out ambience; this is the
place you’ll find it. Teeming with trendy cafés, contemporary restaurants and
boutique shops, the Village Square is the ultimate in boho-chic hangouts.
We
arrived at the same time as our friends “The Rayners” and headed to breakfast
at Raw Energy Peregian Beach. Raw Energy is a homegrown Queensland café chain,
famous for its super healthy Acai bowls, is your go-to for breakfast/lunch in
Peregian Beach. Sitting right at home with the beach village lifestyle, it
welcomes all types of visitors from surfers to sun-tanners, barefoot dog
walkers or those a little more dressed up. It’s colourful, open and airy, and
serves all of your raw, vegan and vego options.
The dog-friendly atmosphere
cannot be beaten. Food is always served with a warmth and pleasurable smile. We
love the range and variety of food as well as their flexibility when we have
specific requests that vary slightly from the menu.
From
breakfast we took the short walk down the road to check out the Peregian
Markets. The Peregian Markets are a truly local affair; with stalls and vendors
showcasing upcycled or handmade goods tailored to their own flair. You can find
any number of fashionable streetwear, pottery, artwork, jewellery, and gifts.
Local organic produce, and homemade pastries, bread, and pickled sauerkraut;
other creations or condiments are commonly found to stock the pantry.
The
Peregian Markets take place every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. In months
with five Sundays, an extra market will be held. Reserved for early or late
mornings, be sure to get there between 7 am and 12:30 pm. Centrally located,
the market is held within the square of Kingfisher Park. The market usually has
up to 110 stalls for you to peruse. Bring your swimming togs so that you
combine the markets with a quick swim in the waters of Peregian Beach.
As the
market is right in town, you can extend your shopping experience; venture into the
boutiques, shops, and cafes, nibble on homemade goods found at the market; or
pop into a gourmet cafe for the ultimate breakfast or late lunch. Tourists
often blend right in with the local community; as its thriving markets filled
with lively energy becomes contagious.

concrete and timber furnishing with barefoot beachy vibes, this café is the
spot for brunch in Peregian Beach. Sit inside to the tune of the bustling
atmosphere or relax outside underneath umbrellas and trees and enjoy a
scrumptious wholefood menu, fresh-made juices and the perfect espresso shot.
It’s a great coffee haunt and a trendy place to start your day. Skal has a big
following of dog lovers. They serve Padre Coffee and you can buy a Noosa Dog
Cakes dog biscuit for your furry friend here too.

Poetry Cafe is situated in the leafy heart of buzzing Peregian Beach Village.
It has a relaxed, European feel. All cakes and breads are made onsite, using
traditional recipes and natural ingredients.

on the Kingfisher Drive side of the village square. Hand of Fatima has Turkish
inspired food and excellent muffins and coffee. Dog Friendly Outdoor Seating.

We said
our farewell’s to the “Rayners” and headed the coastal route stopping at Coolum.
Arriving at Coolum you instantly get that carefree holiday atmosphere
accompanied by some great surf. We headed to Stumers Creek Dog Off-Leash Area,
which is a lovely place where you and your pup can swim. It’s recognised as one
of the best dog beaches on the Sunshine Coast. We gave our pup a run and swim and
watched the tandem skydivers landing on the beach before we headed home on the Pacific
Highway became the afternoon carpark crawl.
You wake up peacefully on
your own accord, with no buzzing alarm and no frantic rush to be on time. You
pour yourself a fresh coffee and step outside, cradling the hot mug reverently
between your two palms, as if in Morning Prayer. Without worry in the world,
you tilt your head back, you close your eyes and you feel the warmth of the sun
falling on your face. Slowly and mindfully, you take a deep breath. The world
smells different when you’re not feeling the pressures of your schedule. The
world feels more alive when your senses aren’t overwhelmed by all the worries
of life. The early sun peeks up over the waves, and the thin rays glisten over
the sparkling undulations of the ocean. A cool breeze blows gently, which adds
to the serenity. The sunrise over the ocean is truly one of the most beautiful
wonders of nature. You lose yourself in the moment and feel its bliss
completely. Your shoulders relax, your mind is at ease, and all of the year’s
built up tension escapes with each exhaled breath. With your mind free from
over-thinking, you let out a huge sigh and say, “ahh, now this is the life.
"We took the 4 hour
drive from Brisbane to Burrum Heads, an idyllic retreat for those who love the
beachside charm and a laid back lifestyle. When we head north, we always stop
at Retro Espresso. The retro espresso experience is a oasis on the Bruce
Highway nestled in the historic town of Tiaro. Today they were holding a Hot
Rod, Custom, Muscle Car Show extravaganza at the Rear of the Royal Hotel. We
grabbed a coffee and walked around to check out the car before jumping back on
the highway.
Burrum Heads has clear
waters, which is what attracts many people to come for a dip. It is a quiet
little town, you can be sure to avoid the crowds with the long stretches of
beach on offer and even bring your fur pet along for the fun. We stayed 4
nights at Burrum Sands Holiday Units.
Burrum Sands Holiday Units
are like a secret haven away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Think
Noosa of the 80's. The rooms are basic, but have everything you need and are
spotlessly clean. It’s quiet and so tranquil. Customer service is second to
none and there is so much on offer just at the units, let alone the short walk
down the stairs to the beach. The units are right on the beach and the fishing
isn’t too bad. So while your partner is reading a book, relaxing with a wine, you
can grab a rod, a beer and walk down the sand to the water and have a fish.
This place will take you back in time. So relax and enjoy a quiet getaway.
Burrum Heads is a small
community with a pub, bowling club, caravan parks and a small precinct made up
of Butcher, Bakery, Tackle Shop, Hair Studio, Fish and Chips Shop and
Foodworks. If you make your way just south of Burrum Heads, you'll find great
swimming, fishing and camping spots on the Burrum River. You can explore the
Wongi Waterholes, a beautiful picnic and camping spot fringed by paperbark
trees, or go fishing in local favourite Lake Lenthall.
Taking a day away from your
accommodation to see what’s around the area is key to a great holiday, so on
Saturday morning we ventured first to Toogoom, then onto Hervey Bay. Toogoom is
only 16 minutes from Burrum Heads and is especially popular with fishermen and
boaties. There are two places to eat in Toogoom, Salty Squid, which is one of
those places that only locals know about, but if you stumble across this gem of
a cafe, you will be pleasantly surprised and Goody on the Beach, which is a
Toogoom favourite overlooking the mouth of Beelbi Creek which opens to Hervey
Bay.
We opted for breakfast at
Salty Squid, which was once called Moreton Street Bakery. It looked like they
still make the “Moreton Street Bakery” treats, including a variety of Homemade
Sausage Rolls, Pies, Quiches, Pastries, Cakes and Tarts created using only the
finest in quality ingredients, Organic Flours and Homemade Butter Puff Pastry.
The Salty Squid has the most
amazing breakfasts and the coffee is excellent and very reasonably priced for
the quality of the food. The staff are lovely, the chef makes great food and
they cook all their own pastries and cakes on the premises. It was such a
pleasure to eat there because of its location, a designated dog-friendly dining
area that was serene and well covered and a modern style menu.
From breakfast we headed to
Hervey Bay, which is only 10.2km away and one of the biggest reasons to travel
there from Toogoom is to go whale watching. Humpback whales stop in the bay
during their migration for a relaxing and playful time in the bay waters. Our
destination was the iconic Urangan Pier Park Community Markets, which are
located adjacent to the Urangan Pier.
The Fraser Coast region
offers a number of bustling pop-up markets for tourists to enjoy on holiday.
The Urangan Pier Park Markets shouldn’t be ignored for first-time visitors on
the Fraser Coast, run by local volunteers with a wide range of stalls offering
fresh regional farmers’ produce, artisan-made souvenirs and goods, crafted
artworks and jewellery, unique homewares, plants, toys, accessories, pre-loved
fashion and lots more.
We always stop at the most
colourful store in the markets, Art by Rebecca Jane, which was formed in 2014
based out of the Urangan Pier Markets. Today, ABRJ is stocked in over 20 retail
outlets up and down the east coast. Rebecca Jane Knowles’ bright, colourful and
funky artwork is painted in her unique style, blending two- and
three-dimensional objects and animals into a single scene. Her paintings range
from blocky and bold to busy and detailed. Rebecca is primarily known for her
beachscapes and depictions of the Fraser Coast Region. Kim this time picked up
a couple of vibrant shirts, which will be on display on our South Pacific
Cruise in May.
Our pup loves nothing more
than tearing along the sand flats at low tide, splashing in the leftover pools
and rolling in seaweed. Without fail, this results in a happy and exhausted
pup. It's also an excellent opportunity for her to socialise in a neutral area.
So we headed down to the Urangan Foreshore, an off-leash dog beach from
Margaret Street Groyne to Churchill Street Groyne.
Lunch time was calling and
we booked a table at our favourite dog-friendly restaurant, Enzo’s on the
beach. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails or coffee with your
toes a couple of steps away from white sand and a bright blue bay. It’s not
hard to see why this beach gem is popular amongst the locals.
We came here
twice on our recent trip to Hervey Bay, for lunch and dinner. The food we
ordered was served promptly, well presented and tasted fine. Service was good,
staff friendly, prices fine. We’ve been lucky with the weather each time we
have visited. If you’re after tropical beach bar vibes, it doesn’t get better
than Enzo’s. With its indoor/outdoor setup, bean bags on the sand.
Most of the holiday was
spent in the covered gazebo areas at our accommodation, which had a wonderful
serene atmosphere. This holiday was about turning off and slowing down,
relaxing and recharging. Sometimes you just need to get away from the madness.
If you’re planning a trip to the Fraser Coast around the Easter break, you can
be a part of a 3 day fishing classic that takes over Burrum Heads each
year.Saturday mornings are for finding
fresh produce and other goodies on the Fraser Coast. If you’re basing yourself
on the Burrum Coast, make sure to check out the Howard Country Markets from 7am
– noon on the first Saturday of each month or the Burrum Heads Markets from 7am
– noon on the second Saturday of each month.
