Photography Session Moffat Beach

Photography Session Moffat Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Australia

Sunrise is every photographer’s open secret. It is, hands down, the best time to shoot, especially when you want to capture Queensland’s gorgeous eastern coast.

For many of us, it is more pleasurable to look at pictures of beautiful sunrises than to get up and actually see beautiful sunrises. You know, you can have a beautiful sunrise and still have a terrible day, but it gives you something to look back on, that you started the day on the right foot, that you put nature and being present before all else.

The beauty of sunrise starts well before the sun is actually visible on the horizon, so you should be arriving in your location in near-darkness. Without city lights or a bright full moon, you’ll find it very difficult to see what you want to shoot, so it’s always crucial to plan your sunrise spot well ahead of time.

Moffat Beach perfectly embodies the best of beach-side living, with its best feature, is the famous surf break. Protected from the prevailing southerly sea breezes by a stunning headland, “Moffats” features sheltered waters for families as well as a first-class wave for surfers rolling down the point. Featuring a unique coastal village vibe, Moffat Beach is home to one of the Sunshine Coast’s best ocean-front parks and a vibrant retail strip offering everything from trendy alfresco dining to old-school fish and chips.

Your smartphone now rivals, and in many cases surpasses, expensive DSLR cameras. The ability to create professional-looking photos is in the palm of your hand. I started in photography more than 30 years ago with film, darkrooms, a bagful of cameras and lens, and later the inevitable switch to DSLRs. But my photography now is done exclusively with an Google Pixel XL.  Phone producers are pulling the rug from beneath traditional camera manufacturers. So, right now, the main areas of smartphone computational photography that you may be able to employ for better pictures are: portrait mode; smart HDR; low light and long exposure.
